The Antinori family, custodians of Tuscan viticulture for over six centuries, found a unique voice for the Vermentino grape within the sun-drenched "amphitheater" of Bolgheri. At the Guado al Tasso estate, the vines are cradled between rolling hillsides and the Tyrrhenian Sea, where constant maritime breezes wash over alluvial soils. This specific placement is a testament to the family’s enduring philosophy: a relentless pursuit of quality that respects ancient roots while embracing the potential of the Upper Maremma’s coastal frontier. Here, the Mediterranean sun provides the energy for ripeness, while the proximity to the water ensures the fruit remains balanced, avoiding the heaviness often found in warmer climes.
The narrative in the glass begins with a luminous straw-yellow hue, yielding an aromatic bouquet of white flower blossoms, citrus zest, and a whisper of aromatic herbs like sage and thyme. Upon the first sip, a vibrant tension takes hold, providing a crystalline structure that carries flavors of white peach and tropical fruit across the palate. This energy is grounded by a distinct savory streak—a hallmark of the Bolgheri coast—that imparts a mineral-driven depth and a saline edge. The experience concludes with a lingering, harmonious finish, where the citrusy precision remains steadfast, leaving a refreshing trail of iodized notes and Mediterranean warmth.
