Bonanza Cabernet Sauvignon is a multi-vintage project from Chuck Wagner, owner and winemaker of the legendary Caymus Vineyards. The Wagner family has deep roots in California viticulture, with farming ancestors arriving in Napa Valley in the 1850s. Since founding Caymus in 1972 with his parents, Chuck has helped establish the region's signature style for Cabernet—dark, lush, and supple. Bonanza was born from Chuck’s desire to celebrate the simple pleasure of enjoying a high-quality glass of wine with everyday meals, calling back to a time when wine was an accessible staple of the dinner table.

The winemaking philosophy for Bonanza centers on the "thrill of discovery" by sourcing fruit from "the bonanza" of California’s diverse vineyard lands. Unlike traditional single-vintage wines, Bonanza is a multi-vintage blend that pulls from various premium regions across the state, such as Lodi and Paso Robles, to prioritize flavor consistency and approachable structure over yearly weather variations. By exploring sites that hold great potential but are often overlooked, the Wagner team applies their decades of expertise to create a "Baby Caymus" style that delivers a rich, fruit-driven profile with silky tannins at a more accessible price point.
