Catena D.V. Historico Red Blend

Catena D.V. Catena Histórico Red Blend is a heartfelt homage to the vision of Don Domingo Vicente Catena, who first believed that Mendoza’s high-altitude vineyards could produce wines rivaling the world’s best. Created by the Catena Zapata family, Argentina’s most revered wine dynasty, this blend embodies over a century of passion and innovation.

The term “Histórico” (meaning “historic”) reflects the family’s long legacy of winemaking since 1902, when they began planting vines in the foothills of the Andes Mountains. The vineyards — located between 950 and 1,500 meters above sea level — benefit from pure sunlight, cool mountain nights, and alluvial soils rich in limestone, creating wines of purity and balance.

This red blend combines Malbec, Bonarda, and Petit Verdot, each variety adding a distinct voice: Malbec for depth and velvet, Bonarda for brightness, and Petit Verdot for structure. The wine is aged for 12 months in French oak, resulting in a complex, elegant expression that bridges Argentina’s history with its contemporary excellence.
