Champagne David Léclapart L’Amateur LV.20 is a Blanc de Blancs produced entirely from Chardonnay harvested in 2020 from six biodynamically farmed parcels across Trépail, a Premier Cru village in the Montagne de Reims. The parcels extend through different parts of the village, allowing the cuvée to offer what Léclapart describes as a broad, panoramic expression of Trépail rather than the character of one individual vineyard.
David Léclapart has farmed his approximately three-hectare estate biodynamically since the beginning of the 2000s. His philosophy centres on living soils, extremely low intervention, and expressing each individual growing season without blending in reserve wines from other years. Although L’Amateur may be presented as non-vintage in some markets, LV.20 is derived from the 2020 harvest.
The Chardonnay was fermented using indigenous yeasts, primarily in enamelled tanks, followed by complete malolactic fermentation. The Champagne was bottled without fining or filtration and disgorged without dosage, preserving its naturally dry, chalk-driven character. A documented LV.20 release was disgorged in April 2024.
