Château Dauzac, recognizable by its striking yellow label, has established itself as a laboratory of innovation in the Margaux appellation. Under the recent leadership of Laurent Fortin, the estate made headlines by becoming the first 1855 Classified Growth to produce a wine certified as purely vegan, using plant-based fining agents instead of traditional egg whites. The 2019 vintage is a shining example of this modern, ethical approach, capturing the generosity of the year without compromising on finesse.

The estate's vineyard is situated on a unique terroir of deep gravel over a layer of clay, which proved vital in 2019. The clay subsoil acted as a water reservoir during the hot, dry summer, allowing the Cabernet Sauvignon to ripen fully while maintaining freshness. The winemaking team also utilizes wooden vats and terracotta amphorae for aging, a technique that preserves the purity of the fruit and softens the texture.

Dauzac 2019 is a wine of conviction. It represents a bridge between the history of the 1855 classification and the future of sustainable viticulture. It is lush, fruit-forward, and polished, offering a drinking experience that is both hedonistic and aligned with contemporary values of transparency and respect for nature.

Composed of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon and 27% Merlot, harvested from the 17th of September to the 10th of October, the 2019 Dauzac is aging in French oak barriques, 66% new. It weighs in at 14% alcohol. Deep garnet-purple colored, it soars out of the glass with vibrant notes of warm plums, fresh blackcurrants and redcurrant jelly with nuances of Indian spices, candied violets, dark chocolate and dusty soil. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers mouth-coating black fruits with loads of spicy accents and a firm structure of ripe, grainy tannins, finishing long and refreshing.
