The Unfolding of a Pauillac Legend
For centuries the estate of Château Lafite Rothschild has stood at the pinnacle of Bordeaux’s Left Bank, its gravel-rich vineyards overlooking the Gironde estuary. With its designation as a Premier Grand Cru Classé in 1855, the estate continues to be a benchmark for terroir-driven excellence.
The 2015 vintage embraced the full gravitas of this terroir: after a mild, dry winter the vines benefited from an early, uniform flowering and summer heat moderated by estuarine breezes, with August rains bringing freshness and aiding veraison. Grapes were vinified plot by plot, matured for around 20 months in 100% new oak from the estate’s own cooperage, and only the best barrels were selected for the Grand Vin.
Although understated in its youth, this 2015 Lafite embodies the estate’s creed of finesse over flash, promising long-term evolution with hallmark graphite and cedar signatures and the elegance that only time in bottle will unlock.
