Château Léoville Poyferré is one of the historic estates of Saint-Julien, born from the division of the large Léoville estate during the 19th century. Classified as a Second Growth (Deuxième Cru Classé) in the famous 1855 Bordeaux Classification, the château has long been regarded as one of the most consistent and powerful wines of the Médoc.
Today the estate is managed by the Cuvelier family, who have invested heavily in vineyard precision and modern winemaking technology, allowing the terroir of Saint-Julien to express itself with greater purity. The vineyards sit on classic deep gravel soils over clay, a hallmark of the Left Bank that provides excellent drainage and ideal ripening conditions for Cabernet Sauvignon.
The 2022 vintage is widely considered one of Bordeaux’s most exceptional modern years. A warm and dry growing season produced grapes of outstanding concentration while maintaining freshness and balance. Léoville Poyferré 2022 captures the essence of Saint-Julien—power, elegance, and structure—making it a wine built for long cellaring and serious collectors.
The style of the estate is known for combining rich fruit intensity with silky tannin structure, creating wines that are approachable earlier than many Médoc peers while still capable of decades of aging.
