Chateau Palmer Margaux 2021

Château Palmer, one of Margaux’s most revered Third Growths, is known for its perfumed depth, velvety structure, and pioneering approach. Its 2021 vintage tells a story of resilience. Biodynamically farmed since 2014, Palmer’s vines faced one of Bordeaux’s most challenging growing seasons in recent memory—marked by spring frost and cool, wet conditions.

Despite these pressures, the vineyard team, led by Thomas Duroux, exercised precision and patience, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. Harvested later than usual, the fruit achieved excellent aromatic intensity, naturally balanced sugars, and fresh acidity. Merlot played a surprisingly central role in the final blend—an echo of historical Palmer cuvées.

The resulting wine is not about weight but elegance. It exhibits a floral-tinged transparency, clear fruit expression, and a minerality that channels the gravel soils of Margaux. This 2021 shows Palmer’s commitment to terroir and truth, embodying what the château calls “Palmer beyond vintage.”
