Barrel Sample. The wine is floral as well as rich, perfumed black currant fruits that show strongly on the dense palate. It is structured, and concentrated; promising aging as well as juicy fruits now.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2017 Trotanoy is 100% Merlot and begins quite stubborn and broody on the nose at this youthful stage, needing a lot of coaxing to reveal a core of plum preserves, blackberry pie and licorice with suggestions of cast-iron pan, underbrush, tilled soil and charcoal. Medium-bodied, the palate is not at all weighty, but it is built like a brick house, with bags of restrained, muscular fruit and a solid line of firm, grainy tannins, finishing with epic length and fantastic tension. Château Trotanoy is one of the most revered estates in Pomerol and is owned by the legendary Etablissements Jean-Pierre Moueix, the family responsible for some of Bordeaux's most sought-after wines. The name "Trotanoy" is derived from the old French phrase "trop ennuie" ("too troublesome"), referring to the estate’s exceptionally hard and challenging soils.
Located on the prestigious plateau of Pomerol, Château Trotanoy occupies one of the appellation's finest terroirs. Its unique combination of deep clay and gravel soils allows vines to withstand dry vintages while producing wines of extraordinary concentration, depth, and longevity.
