Founded in 1983 by Catherine and Didier Champalou, Domaine Champalou is a celebrated family estate located in the heart of the Vouvray appellation in the Loire Valley. Both founders come from long lines of vignerons, with Catherine representing the twelfth generation of winemakers in her family. Today, the estate is managed by their daughter, Céline, who joined in 2006 after gaining international experience across the globe. The domaine has grown from a few modest hectares to approximately 25 hectares of Chenin Blanc, becoming one of the most highly-acclaimed names in the region for its ability to showcase the diverse expressions of the variety.

The winery's philosophy is rooted in sustainable viticulture and deep respect for the land, evidenced by their long-standing certification by Terra Vitis. They utilize the lunar calendar to guide vineyard tasks and maintain cover crops to encourage biodiversity and soil health. Situated on the northern bank of the Loire, the vineyards benefit from a warm continental climate and unique soils composed of clay, limestone, and silex sitting atop a chalky tuffeau bedrock. In the cellar, the Champalous prioritize gentle vinification and natural fermentations at low temperatures to preserve the aromatic finesse, elegance, and mineral tension that define their distinct Vouvray style.
