“Vieilles Vignes” refers to old vines, typically 50+ years in age, which naturally produce lower yields but more concentrated fruit. At Domaine de la Charbonnière, this cuvée represents a selection of their most mature vineyards—offering a deeper and more serious expression of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Rooted in classic Rhône terroir, with soils composed of galets roulés and sandy components, these old vines develop extensive root systems that draw complexity and minerality from deeper layers of the soil.
Compared to the standard cuvée, Vieilles Vignes delivers greater intensity, structure, and length, while maintaining the domaine’s signature balance and elegance. It is a wine designed not just for enjoyment, but for evolution over time.
