Bruno Giacosa, often revered as the Genius of Neive, represents the pinnacle of traditional winemaking in Piedmont. The family’s viticultural roots date back to the late 19th century, but it was Bruno who elevated the estate to global icon status through his uncompromising standards and legendary palate. For decades, he operated as a commerciante, sourcing the finest grapes from a dedicated network of growers. However, a significant shift occurred in 1982 when the estate acquired the prestigious Falletto vineyard in Serralunga d’Alba. This south-facing amphitheater is considered one of the region’s greatest terroirs, known for its limestone-rich soils that impart a distinctive mineral backbone and powerful structure to the wines. Today, his daughter Bruna Giacosa continues this legacy, ensuring that every bottle bearing the Falletto label meets the family’s exacting requirements for quality and site expression.

The winemaking philosophy at Giacosa is defined by a commitment to updated traditionalism and minimal intervention. Believing that great wine is made in the vineyard, the estate employs rigorous selection processes and will famously refuse to bottle a vintage if it does not meet their scrutinous standards. In the cellar, the process focuses on preserving the natural identity of the fruit through long macerations and aging in large French oak casks, or botti, rather than small barriques. This approach allows the Dolcetto d'Alba Falletto to showcase the purity of the variety while reflecting the specific character of the Serralunga terroir. The resulting wines are celebrated for their elegance, precision, and balance, serving as a benchmark for the soulful expressions of the Langhe.
