Giuseppe Cortese is a traditional, family-run estate located in the village of Barbaresco in Piedmont. The winery has long been respected for producing authentic expressions of Nebbiolo that reflect the character of the Barbaresco appellation.
The vineyards are situated on limestone-rich marl soils within the Barbaresco hills, where Nebbiolo thrives thanks to warm daytime sunshine and cool evenings that help preserve acidity and aromatic complexity.
Compared with neighboring Barolo, Barbaresco wines are often known for their greater elegance and earlier approachability, while still maintaining the structure and aging potential characteristic of Nebbiolo.
The wine is typically fermented with extended maceration to extract Nebbiolo’s aromatic compounds and tannin structure, followed by aging in large oak casks to preserve varietal purity rather than imposing heavy oak influence.
