La Gerla Birba Tuscany IGT is a captivating introduction to the world of Brunello di Montalcino — a wine that carries the noble heart of Sangiovese Grosso yet expresses it with youthful energy and charm.

Produced by La Gerla, a revered Montalcino estate founded by Sergio Rossi in 1976, Birba (meaning “the cheeky one” in Italian) was created to show the playful, elegant side of the estate’s iconic vineyards while maintaining their hallmark precision and depth.

Crafted entirely from Sangiovese Grosso grapes grown in Montalcino, the wine is aged for 12 months in large Slavonian oak casks, followed by bottle aging to refine its texture. The result bridges the freshness of youth with the poise of Brunello maturity — an expression that feels both familiar and inviting.

It is often called “Baby Brunello” because it reflects the same terroir, discipline, and craftsmanship as La Gerla’s Brunello but in a more approachable, fruit-forward style.
