Les Crêtes Nebbiolo Le Sommet D.O.P

Founded in 1989 by Costantino Charrere, Les Crêtes is a benchmark producer in Italys alpine Valle d'Aosta, though the Charrere family’s roots in the region date back to 1750. Originally from France, the family established themselves as farmers and millers in Aymavilles for five generations before focusing on quality viticulture in 1955. Today, the estate is recognized for putting this small, autonomous region on the global wine map through "heroic viticulture." The Le Sommet Nebbiolo represents their commitment to excellence, sourced from high-altitude vineyards where the family has spent decades rescuing near-extinct native varieties and perfecting the expression of international grapes in an alpine context.

The unique terroir of the Aosta Valley is defined by its extreme conditions, featuring some of the highest vineyards in Europe surrounded by the Italian, French, and Swiss Alps. Les Crêtes manages small, hand-cultivated plots on steep sandy slopes and glacial moraine soils between 600 and 1,000 meters in altitude. This mountain environment provides intense sunlight and significant diurnal temperature shifts, allowing the Nebbiolo grapes to ripen slowly and develop a distinct aromatic complexity and mineral tension. The winery follows a philosophy of minimal intervention and environmental sustainability, ensuring that each bottle authentically reflects the rugged elegance and purity of its high-altitude origin.
