Marcarini is one of the historic producers of Barolo, with family roots in La Morra dating back to the 19th century. The estate is especially known for its two celebrated cru vineyards: La Serra and Brunate, both considered among the classic terroirs of the Barolo appellation.
The La Serra cru, located in La Morra, sits on calcareous clay soils rich in limestone and fossil deposits. Compared with some Barolo vineyards from Serralunga or Monforte, wines from La Morra—particularly La Serra—are often known for their aromatic elegance, silky tannins, and expressive perfume.
Marcarini follows a traditional Barolo approach: long maceration on skins to extract Nebbiolo’s complex aromatics and structure, followed by extended aging in large Slavonian oak casks. This method preserves the purity of Nebbiolo while allowing the wine to develop classic Barolo complexity.
The result is a wine that balances power with finesse, capable of aging gracefully for decades.
