A Journey Through Exile and Creation
Eight Years in the Desert is a story of perseverance, creativity, and redemption. After selling his original brand The Prisoner, winemaker Dave Phinney was prohibited from making a Zinfandel-based wine for eight years — his own “exile in the desert.”
When the restriction ended, Phinney returned with a masterpiece that redefined modern Californian red blends. Eight Years in the Desert is his symbolic return — a luxurious and expressive wine crafted from Zinfandel, Syrah, and Petite Sirah, sourced from premier vineyards across California, including Napa, Sonoma, and Paso Robles.
Each vintage is a collector’s piece — beautifully bottled with minimalist art labels that reflect Phinney’s philosophy: “Great wine is equal parts precision, passion, and poetry.”
