Robert Mondavi Winery created “The Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon” as the flagship expression of the historic To Kalon Vineyard—one of the most celebrated vineyard sites in Napa Valley and widely regarded as one of California’s greatest terroirs. Located in Oakville on prime benchland soils, To Kalon has long defined the benchmark style of world-class Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

The 2021 vintage showcases fruit sourced from carefully selected blocks within To Kalon Vineyard, crafted with a philosophy focused on structure, concentration, and longevity. The wine is composed primarily of Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot to enhance aromatic complexity and structure.

The growing season in 2021 delivered ideal conditions for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, allowing the grapes to achieve exceptional ripeness while preserving freshness and balance. The wine underwent extended maceration followed by approximately 21 months of aging in predominantly new French oak barrels, building layers of texture, spice, and refinement.

Critics praised the vintage for its concentration, polished tannins, and mineral precision, with Decanter awarding the wine 98 points and highlighting its plush black fruit, cassis, and elongated structure.
