Te Mata Estate is one of New Zealand’s most historic wineries, founded in 1896 in Hawke’s Bay. Over more than a century, the estate has become internationally respected for its Bordeaux-inspired red blends.
Coleraine, first produced in 1982, is widely regarded as New Zealand’s most iconic Cabernet-based wine. Named after the Coleraine vineyard block, the wine represents the pinnacle of Te Mata’s production and is crafted only from the best vineyard parcels in exceptional vintages.
Hawke’s Bay offers one of the warmest and most stable wine-growing climates in New Zealand. Gravel-rich soils and maritime influence allow Bordeaux varieties to ripen fully while retaining balance and freshness.
The blend—primarily Cabernet Sauvignon, supported by Merlot and Cabernet Franc—is aged in French oak barrels to enhance structure and complexity while preserving fruit purity.
The result is a wine combining New World richness with Old World balance and longevity.
