Tinto Pesquera is the iconic estate founded by Alejandro Fernández, one of the pioneers who elevated Ribera del Duero onto the global fine wine stage in the 1980s and 1990s. His philosophy focused on 100% Tempranillo (locally known as Tinto Fino), estate-driven concentration, and structured oak aging.
The vineyards sit at approximately 750–900 meters altitude on the Duero plateau. Ribera’s extreme continental climate—hot summers, very cold winters, and significant diurnal temperature variation—creates small, thick-skinned berries with natural tannin intensity and deep color.
As a Crianza, the wine is aged a minimum of 24 months, including at least 12 months in oak. Pesquera’s style is traditionally powerful: darker fruit, firmer tannins, and more pronounced structure compared to many Rioja Crianzas. The oak is used to add spice and texture while preserving fruit concentration.
This is classic Ribera—structured, age-worthy, and unmistakably bold.
