“Millenium” represents one of the flagship prestige expressions from Tinto Pesquera, the iconic Ribera del Duero estate founded by Alejandro Fernández—widely regarded as one of the pioneers who transformed Ribera into a world-class region in the late 20th century.
Sourced from carefully selected, low-yield Tempranillo (Tinto Fino) vineyards planted on the high plateau (750–900 meters), the wine reflects Ribera’s extreme continental climate. Hot, dry summers build concentration and thick skins, while cold nights preserve acidity and structural tension.
As a Gran Reserva, Spanish regulations require a minimum of 60 months aging, including at least 18 months in oak. In practice, Millenium typically sees extended barrel maturation followed by long bottle aging before release. This prolonged élevage allows tannins to refine, fruit to integrate, and tertiary aromas to develop fully.
Compared to Crianza or Reserva bottlings, Millenium is less about youthful power and more about layered depth, maturity, and longevity.
