It is more than three decades since this mysterious Spanish wine was born. The label: Black. The bottle: Burgundy style. The variety: Cabernet Sauvignon. Few had much faith in this project. Certainly, nobody back in 1979, could have dreamed that it would triumph in a Parisian blind tasting against some of the world's most famous wines. Yet it marked the start of a new era in wine making: a time in which to stop dreaming and embark on a new journey, year after year, harvest after harvest.

An enticing red, exuding fragrant sandalwood and star anise notes, this is plush on the palate, offering generous flavors of black plum reduction, baked bitter cherry, tea leaves and a subtle base note of fresh earth. Defined by sculpted, fine-grained tannins and lively acidity, this is seamlessly knit and harmonious. Drink now through 2034. 6,262 cases made, 450 cases imported.

Excellent freshness and intensity of meaty blue fruit here with currants, blackberries, dark plums, peppercorns and chocolate, with dark earth and some spearmint. Crushed stone minerality on the palate, with fantastic freshness. Full-bodied, tight, caressing and perfectly ripe tannins. Already delicious, but will age beautifully. Cabernet sauvignon. Intense aroma showing all the classic characteristics of the native land of Mas La Plana, together with notes of truffle, toast and wild red berry conserve. Great body and breadth on the palate, with juicy tannins that become balanced and elegant.

This wine's noble and healthy tannins will complement the best meat and game dishes. Serve at 17 - 18 ºC.
