Pelissero is a historic family-owned estate based in Treiso, within the heart of Piedmont’s Langhe region. Established in 1957, the winery is now led by third-generation winemaker Giorgio Pelissero, who maintains a philosophy rooted in the cultivation of native varieties and a deep commitment to the land. Managing 42 hectares of estate-owned vineyards, the family emphasizes continuous improvement in both the vineyard and cellar, blending age-old rituals with modern techniques to produce wines that authentically express their origin.
The Tulin vineyard, located in the villages of Treiso and Neviglie, is a unique 20-hectare site featuring steep south and southeast-facing slopes with altitudes ranging from 250 to 400 meters. The terroir is characterized by mineral-rich soils of calcareous marl and blue clay, which provide a distinct tension and structural depth to the Barbera grapes. To craft this sophisticated bottling, Pelissero employs low-yielding clones and rigorous selection, followed by aging for approximately 18 to 24 months in French oak barrels. This careful maturation balances Barbera’s natural vibrancy with polished tannins, resulting in a complex, full-bodied wine that highlights the potential of the variety beyond its fruit-forward roots.
