Bodegas Caro was founded in 1999 through a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Catena Zapata. The collaboration brings together Bordeaux's centuries-old expertise in Cabernet Sauvignon with Argentina's world-renowned high-altitude Malbec, creating wines that marry Old World elegance with New World fruit purity.
Amancaya is named after a wild Andean flower that blooms in the foothills of the Andes, symbolizing the connection between the vineyard and its natural surroundings. It represents the winery's philosophy of balance—combining the richness and floral character of Malbec with the structure and refinement of Cabernet Sauvignon.
The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Mendoza, where the high-altitude climate, abundant sunshine, and cool nights allow both varieties to achieve excellent ripeness while preserving freshness. Each variety is vinified separately before the final blend is matured in French oak barrels, integrating the fruit with subtle notes of spice and cedar.
The result is a polished, approachable red blend that offers generous fruit, refined structure, and excellent balance.
