Bodegas Caro was established in 1999 as a partnership between Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Catena Zapata. The winery combines the Bordeaux winemaking heritage of Lafite with Catena's deep understanding of Argentina's high-altitude vineyards, producing wines that balance elegance with the vibrant fruit of Mendoza.
Aruma Malbec represents the purest expression of Malbec within the Bodegas Caro portfolio. The name "Aruma" comes from the Quechua language, meaning "the night", a reference to the cool Andean nights that help preserve acidity and aromatic freshness in the vineyards.
The grapes are sourced from carefully selected vineyards in Mendoza, where high elevations, intense sunshine, and significant diurnal temperature variation produce Malbec with concentrated fruit, floral aromatics, and remarkable freshness. The wine is vinified primarily in stainless steel without oak maturation, allowing the fruit and terroir to remain the focus.
The result is a fresh, expressive, and approachable Malbec that showcases the purity of Argentine fruit while maintaining the elegance associated with Bodegas Caro.
