Catena Chardonnay

Catena Zapata is one of Argentina's most prestigious wineries and a pioneer of high-altitude viticulture. Led by Dr. Nicolás Catena Zapata, the winery transformed Argentina's global reputation by demonstrating that Mendoza's mountain vineyards could produce wines of exceptional elegance, freshness, and complexity.

Catena Chardonnay is sourced from selected high-altitude vineyards across Mendoza, including vineyards in the Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo. Growing at elevations between 950 and 1,450 meters above sea level, the vines benefit from warm sunny days and cool Andean nights, allowing Chardonnay to develop concentrated fruit while retaining remarkable natural acidity.

The grapes are hand-harvested and gently pressed before fermentation, with a portion fermented and aged in French oak barrels while the remainder is vinified in stainless steel. Lees aging adds texture and complexity while preserving the wine's vibrant fruit and mineral purity.

The result is a beautifully balanced Chardonnay that combines ripe orchard fruit, subtle oak influence, and crisp mountain freshness, representing one of Argentina's benchmark expressions of the variety.
