Shumi Winery is one of Georgia's leading wineries, dedicated to preserving the country's 8,000-year-old winemaking heritage while combining traditional indigenous grape varieties with modern winemaking. Located in Kakheti, Georgia's premier wine region, the winery is internationally recognized for producing authentic expressions of the country's historic appellations.
Shumi Mukuzani is produced under the prestigious Mukuzani PDO, one of Georgia's finest red wine appellations. The wine is made exclusively from Saperavi, Georgia's iconic teinturier grape, known for its naturally deep color, firm structure, and remarkable aging potential.
The vineyards are located in the Mukuzani zone of Kakheti, where limestone-rich soils, warm sunny days, and cool Caucasus mountain nights create ideal conditions for producing concentrated, elegant Saperavi. Following fermentation, the wine is matured in oak barrels for a minimum period required by the Mukuzani appellation, developing greater complexity while preserving the grape's vibrant fruit and natural freshness.
The result is a structured, full-bodied red wine that combines rich dark fruit, refined oak, and lively acidity, making it one of Georgia's benchmark red wines.
