Château d’Yquem is universally recognized as the world's greatest sweet wine estate and the only property awarded the prestigious Premier Cru Supérieur classification in the historic 1855 Bordeaux Classification. Every vintage is produced through painstaking selection, with grapes harvested by hand over multiple passes to capture only perfectly botrytised berries.
The 2006 vintage reflects a classic expression of Château d'Yquem, combining concentration with exceptional balance. Noble rot (Botrytis cinerea) developed under ideal conditions, producing grapes with extraordinary aromatic complexity while preserving the vibrant acidity that defines the estate's timeless style.
Produced primarily from Sémillon with Sauvignon Blanc, the wine was matured in new French oak barrels before extended bottle aging. It already displays impressive harmony, yet still possesses decades of evolution ahead. Rich, layered, and remarkably fresh, Château d'Yquem 2006 exemplifies why the estate remains the benchmark for sweet wine worldwide.
